Kawasaki Engines:

The most reason for failure is when they are not stored properly.  Apparently something that JD used in there plastic causes gas that isn't stabalized to gel up and gum up your carbs.  I melted a piston this year so I have learned my lesson.  Make sure to get your carbs cleaned.  This one simple task will help to avoid a large bill for engine damage.

Another problem which some sites and people will tell you, is that crankshaft seals tend to fail.  This is not true, as long as you store your sled properly, and do proper maintenance procedures.  I have talked to a couple of people who used to work on John Deere sleds, and they said they never seen a crankshaft seal failure.  Treat your sled good, and it will treat you and your wallet good.

"Here are some arcticles out of a technical service manual."  Please be patient as articles take a while to load.
